Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos is part of a nationwide movement of community-based, autonomous organizations and Boys & Girls Clubs of America working to help youth of all backgrounds develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders.
The Club is committed to serving the needs of youth, ages 6 (and enrolled in the 1st grade) to 18, during the critical hours when they are out of school and away from parental supervision. We strive to provide children and teens with what they need most:
a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves, adult role models who respect and listen to them, and interesting, constructive educational and recreational activities that channel youthful energy into challenging and productive pursuits.
Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos opened its doors in 1979 at Woodland Park, serving several hundred youth members. In 1995, the 16,000-square-foot main branch, Jennifer Loscher Building, was opened with a million dollar operating budget and nearly 1,000 youth members. In 2005, the 6,500-square-foot Teen Center opened to serve high school-aged youth.
The Club’s growth has continued over the years with the addition of a second standalone Clubhouse and 11 extension sites throughout San Marcos on school campuses and affordable housing communities. Today, we serve more than 2,500 through programs and services provided in the Club setting, and at community events and functions.
Our goal is to provide a world-class Club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who comes through our doors, with all members on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.
